Helmy Abouleish Was Elected as Councillor of the World Future Council

The World Future Council (WFC) has recently elected SEKEMs CEO Helmy Abouleish as one of its councillors. His father, SEKEM Founder Ibrahim Abouleish, had been engaged as a council member since the founding of the international foundation in 2007.

The World Future Council is committed to a sustainable, just and peaceful future. It conducts research in order to spread the best global and political solutions. The foundation sees itself as a global advocate for the interests of future generations in the fields of politics, ecology and social justice. The 50 council members, all international personalities from politics, science, economy and culture, meet once a year and prepare a work program together. In cooperation with other civil society organizations, they are calling on political decision-makers to overcome the shortcomings that threaten a sustainable and peaceful future for humanity.

Each year, the WFC awards the Future Policy Award (FPA) on changing topics. This year, in cooperation with the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), the best policies to combat desertification have been recognized. The prize aims to draw public attention to sustainable laws and policies.

SEKEM appreciates the opportunity to continue supporting the World Future Council by Helmy Abouleish’s membership as a councillor. Especially for the reason that Ibrahim Abouleish once expressed: “SEKEM is thus integrated into the global network of life, which is more effective than the most dangerous weapons.”
